2023 CIIPA Numeracy Assistance Program

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Are you passionate about serving the community? Then we invite you to join CIIPA's Numeracy Assistance Program. The program is designed to provide support to students who are experiencing difficulty in their math lessons.

CIIPA has partnered with the Ministry of Education to offer support in primary schools who have implemented a model of 'same-day intervention'. The idea is that following the math lesson, students who have not grasped the concept are identified and given follow up teaching for about 30 minutes. By addressing the issue the same day, students are more likely to make sense of future lessons which build upon prior learning. 

Requirements

• Attend numeracy orientation (1.5 hours)
• Commit to at least 1 hour per week for February through June 2023 with the exception of public holidays. You can also pair with another volunteer to alternate each week.
• Must complete Darkness to Light training (visit d2l.org/online) and provide a police clearance
