Annual Insurance Update

Description/Overview: 

This course will provide updates on the latest accounting, cybersecurity and regulatory developments impacting the insurance industry in Cayman. The panel of speakers will focus on key accounting standards updates for both IFRS and US GAAP reporting, as well as an interactive session on Cybersecurity and compliance with CIMA's Cybersecurity Rule and Statement of Guidance.

Speakers:  

Nicki Angstadt - Senior Manager, Financial Accounting and Advisory Services, Ernst & Young 

Nicki is a senior manager in the Insurance practice of the Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands region of EY’s Financial Services Organization. Nicki is based in the Cayman Islands office and has previously worked in Dubai (UAE), New York (US), and Philadelphia (US) offices. She is a Pennsylvania licensed CPA. Nicki has 14 years of experience providing capital markets and accounting advisory services to clients under US GAAP and IFRS frameworks. During her career, she has advised on over 50 complex accounting transactions, public debt issuances, and IPOs.

John Jabs – Director, Audit, Deloitte 

John is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 18 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on investment funds and insurance. As a Director in the Audit group at Deloitte, John focuses on maximizing the efficiency and quality of the audit process through the application of technology innovations and bespoke project management tools. John serves as Internal Controls Leader for Deloitte in the Caribbean, as a member of Deloitte Cayman’s Audit Technical Team, and as a team leader for Deloitte’s global quality inspection team.

Harvey Gowers - Director, Audit, KPMG 

Harvey is a Director in the insurance department at KPMG in the Cayman Islands. He has over 12 years’ experience providing audit and assurance services, including the last 8 years working in the insurance industry in the Cayman Islands primarily focused on captive insurance and reinsurance

Isabel Gumeyi - Director, Technology, Privacy & Audit - Risk Assurance / Advisory Services 

Ms. Gumeyi is a Director with PwC Cayman Islands who specializes in Technology Risk Assurance and Advisory services. With over 14 years of experience, she leads the technology audit and consulting engagements for insurance and reinsurance entities and multiple other industries including banking, asset management, government and operating companies. Her expertise includes cybersecurity, data protection and privacy, IT general controls, emerging technology consulting (including blockchain and digital assets) as well as enterprise risk management. She performs internal and external audits and leads training sessions for executives and Board of Directors.
