Overview:

Completion of data analytics projects, i.e. transforming data into insights, requires the integrated use of three different skill sets: data preparation, information modeling, and analytics. This seminar provides a hands-on introduction to these three skill sets using Power BI as a tool. 

Key Learning Outcomes:

Data Preparation

• How to extract data from Excel and text files
• How to detect and correct data issues
• How to restructure data to make analytics more efficient

Information Modeling

• The basics of Power BI's DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) language
• How to build an information model in Power BI
• How to use an information model in Power BI

Analytics

• How to explore data relationships such as correlation and time series with visualizations
• How to build interactive reports

All registered attendees will receive a pre-course email with materials and we encourage everyone to follow along with the instructor to get the most out of this session.

Featured Speaker: Guido L. Geerts, Ph.D.

Guido is a professor and Ernst & Young faculty scholar at the Lerner College of Business, University of Delaware, where he teaches accounting information systems and data analytics. Guido has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, research, and service. He frequently presents data analytics and Power BI workshops to educators and practitioners.
