This introductory session will provide an overview of fraud and forensic accounting, discussing the characteristics of fraudsters, the most commonly seen behaviors, motivations behind fraud, red flags, methods of prevention and detection and how technology can be used to assist. 

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the basics of forensic accounting
  • Understand how and why fraud is committed, and how to prevent and investigate
  • Develop an understanding of e-Discovery and alternative technologies, which are used in the fight against fraud

Presenters:

Sean Theron, Alvarez & Marsal | Sean has more than 16 years of cross border experience in data handline and analysis, the majority of which has been focused on eDiscovery and computer forensics.

Conor Given, Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations |  Conor is a Director at Alvarez & Marsal in the Cayman Islands, having spent nine years in the firm's Disputes and Investigations practice in London. He specializes in providing accounting and financial expertise in complex disputes.
