VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Are you passionate about serving the community? Then we invite you to join CIIPA's Numeracy Assistance Program. The program is designed to provide support to students who are experiencing difficulty in their math lessons.

CIIPA has partnered with the Ministry of Education to offer support in primary schools who have implemented a model of 'same-day intervention'. The idea is that following the math lesson, students who have not grasped the concept are identified and given follow up teaching for about 30 minutes. By addressing the issue the same day, students are more likely to make sense of future lessons which build upon prior learning.

Requirements

  • Attend numeracy training (two sessions, July 7th and 15th, 3 - 5pm at the Chamber of Commerce training room).
  • Commit to at least 1 hour (over 2 days) per week for the upcoming school year (Sept. 2021 - June 2022). You can also pair with another volunteer to alternate each week.
  • Must complete Darkness to Light training (visit d2l.org/online). You will be required to register for an individual account, then complete 'Stewards of Children' training for a fee of US$10. CIIPA will reimburse this cost.

Please email copies of the D2L training certificate to sharona.williams@ciipa.ky once completed.

For more information, call 749-3362 or email Sharona at the address above.
