Description/Overview: 

US GAAP:

  • New 2019 US GAAP changes;
  • New US GAAP standards/updates - applicable to future years, but possibly eligible for early adoption;
  • US GAAP common issues for funds 

IFRS:

  • New 2019 IFRS changes;
  • New IFRS standards/updates - applicable to future years, but possibly eligible for early adoption; and
  • IFRS common issues for funds

Hedge Fund Financial Statements Review:

  • Hedge fund financial statements under US GAAP - standard disclosures
  • Hedge fund financial statements under IFRS - standard disclosures
  • Private equity financial statements

Presenters:

  • Parry Deopersad, Partner, PwC - Parry is a Partner of PwC Cayman's financial statement preparation services group, has been with PwC for more than 18 years and has more than 13 years of asset management assurance experience with a variety of hedge fund structures and strategies. He has extensive experience in the application of both US GAAP and IFRS and is author of PwC's global Illustrative IFRS Financial Statements for Investment Funds.
  • Joel Dodson, Partner, KPMGHead of Risk Consulting in the Cayman Islands and lead the Accounting Advisory Services group. He focuses on providing ISAE 3402/SSAE 16 services for hedge fund administrators, financial reporting and Form PF services for hedge funds and Basel II consulting services for the banking industry.
  • Michael Baker, Assurance Senior Manager, PWC - A senior manager in the Cayman Islands fund referred reporting engagement group and specializes exclusively in the audit of alternative investment funds. He has more than 10 years of professional experience with PwC in the Cayman Islands and United Kingdom. Michael has extensive experience in a variety of hedge fund structures and strategies and works closely with PwC firms in the world's major investment management centers.

Learning Objective: To understand the updated accounting requirements applicable to US GAAP and IFRS and their impact on the financial statements presentation.
