The Investigation Committee shall at the direction of CIIPA Council undertake investigations into any complaint made against a CIIPA member and shall make recommendations to Council as to whether the matter should be dismissed or referred to the Disciplinary Tribunal and to the relevant Overseas Professional Accounting Institute for action.
It is important to maintain a fair, effective and consistent investigation process and thereby preserve confidence in the accountancy profession.
The Investigation Committee will be chaired by a Council member and will comprise of no more than seven other members nominated by Council, each of whom is required to have at least five years membership in CIIPA.
Complaints will in the first instance be submitted in writing to CIIPA's Complaints Officer, who will present the complaint to the Investigations Committee who will determine if there is a case to answer through a pre-investigation procedure. A Case manager will be assigned and the investigations Committee will refer the matter to Council if it is deemed that the complaint is not frivolous or vexatious and there is grounds for an investigation. The matter will be investigated and may be referred to the Disciplinary Tribunal for further action in accordance with relevant laws.
