Online membership applications
All membership applications must be completed online. Applicants are required to have all mandatory information and supporting documentation prepared and available before commencing the application, as the online system will not allow the application to proceed unless all required fields are completed and all mandatory documents are uploaded in full. Supporting documentation must be duly certified where required.
If your application is incomplete applications, or you do not upload all the relevant documentation, the application will not go through the portal.
Completed applications are reviewed on a monthly basis by the Membership and Licensing Committee (MLC). Applications recommended by the MLC are then submitted to Council for final consideration and approval.
Regular Members – Mandatory Documentation
Applicants for Regular Membership must upload the following mandatory documentation as part of the online application:
- A Business Law Certificate evidencing successful completion of the required course. You can access the Business Law Course by clicking here.
- A copy of a valid national photo identification, such as a current passport or driver’s licence
- A Character Reference, being a letter from a current employer, previous employer, or other professional person confirming that the applicant is of good character and has been known to the referee for a minimum of two years
- Evidence of legal status, such as a valid Work Permit, Temporary Work Permit, Confirmation of Caymanian Status letter, Permanent Residence (PR) Certificate, or evidence of PR renewal, as applicable
- A Letter of Good Standing from the applicant’s accounting institute
Associate Members – Mandatory Documentation
Applicants for Associate Membership must upload the following mandatory documentation as part of the online application:
- A copy of a valid national photo identification, such as a current passport or driver’s licence
- A Character Reference, being a letter from a current employer, previous employer, or other professional person confirming that the applicant is of good character and has been known to the referee for a minimum of two years
- Evidence of legal status, such as a valid Work Permit, Temporary Work Permit, Confirmation of Caymanian Status letter, Permanent Residence (PR) Certificate, or evidence of PR renewal, as applicable
Student Members – Mandatory Documentation
Applicants for Student Membership must upload the following mandatory documentation as part of the online application:
- A copy of a valid national photo identification, such as a current passport or driver’s licence
- A Character Reference, being a letter from a current employer, previous employer, or other professional person confirming that the applicant is of good character and has been known to the referee for a minimum of two years
- An enrollment letter confirming current registration in an approved course of study
- Evidence of legal status, such as a valid Work Permit, Temporary Work Permit, Confirmation of Caymanian Status letter, Permanent Residence (PR) Certificate, or evidence of PR renewal, as applicable
Membership levels and fees:
- Associate Membership - $100 Application fee + $100 immediately due on approval; $200 annual renewal.
- Regular Membership - $100 Application fee + $100 immediately due on approval; $200 annual renewal.
- Retired Membership - Free
- Student Membership - Free
Business Law Course requirement for Regular Membership applicants
As a result of the Cayman Islands Accountants (Amendment) Act, 2022, all individuals applying for regular membership must complete CIIPA's Cayman Islands Business Law course as a requirement of initial membership.
The basic level course will take learners through the Cayman Islands' laws which are applicable when doing business in the country and is free of charge to regular member applicants.
3 CPD credits will be awarded for successful completion of the course which includes a 45-minute timed assessment requiring a passing score of at least 70%.

Applications must be submitted online by close of the business day of the following business dates for consideration at the scheduled MLC meeting the following month.
