Dara has more than 20 years of finance, accounting, audit and advisory experience. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 2000 following a three-year training contract with a Big-4 firm in Ireland and spent much of his professional career within the insurance sector both in industry and in professional practice.
Dara joined Grant Thornton as Managing Partner in January 2017, harnessing the opportunity to use his entrepreneurial passion to grow the business. Prior to that, Dara worked in practice and in industry in roles involving assurance, finance and risk management. In 2019, he was awarded winner in the ‘Accountancy, Audit & Tax Advisory Specialist’ category of the 2019 ‘Captive International Cayman Awards.
Dara has worked with companies operating in banking, reinsurance and other financial services industries, local tourism industry and government regulated entities in the Cayman Islands and across the Caribbean.
He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, holds a master’s in accounting from the University College of Dublin, Smurfit School of Business. Dara is a past member of the CIIPA Council and serves as the Chair of the Advisory Board at St. Ignatius School in the Cayman Islands.
